Awesome

In this repository, you find WebID integrated hostapd. the standalone EAPserver with openssl library is able to use WebID authentication in EAP-TLS.

WebID is an authentication protocol which uses certificates and social networks. The certificates are trusted without a PKI or WoT. Every certificate should include a link to the web profile of the owner.
From the Profile page which is possibly implemented in FOAF ontology language, authentication and authorization steps are done.

Authentication

For just authentication librdf is required which is also mentioned in the Makefile and defconfig. Librdf is used to fetch the public key of the owner that is published in the profile page. In the defconfig and hostapd.config you can find the related preprocessor statements. Works only with openssl. The code is patly inspired by mod_authn_webid.

Authorization

Authorization is done based on the social network links between the AP owner and the client. Since this step requires many https calls, an external Python library is implemented. python-webid library is called via python-c api. For compilation again the flags are in defconfig and Python.h (2.7) is required.

Other configuration parameters can be found in hostapd.config file with their explanations.

This package may include either wpa_supplicant, hostapd, or both. See README file respective subdirectories (wpa_supplicant/README or hostapd/README) for more details.

Source code files were moved around in v0.6.x releases and compared to earlier releases, the programs are now built by first going to a subdirectory (wpa_supplicant or hostapd) and creating build configuration (.config) and running 'make' there (for Linux/BSD/cygwin builds).
